Weekend Victories

Another win for the People's Champ.

The Philippines was witness to several victories over the weekend. First on the list is Manny Pacquiao’s 12 round win versus Mexican rival Juan Manuel Marquez. This is probably Pacman’s most controversial fight, as midway in the match Marquez showed his offensive prowess. But scorecards proved otherwise, as Pacman won by a slim seven point margin.

Asides from Pacman, some of our national athletes are strutting it out as well at the 26th Southeast Asian Games. We wish them success in their campaign in Indonesia.

Vacation, anyone?

Another victory for the Philippines came in the form of a natural wonder: the Puerto Princesa Underground River. Palawan’s famed tourist attraction earned a spot in the New Seven Wonders of Nature, thanks to online and SMS votes. Surprisingly, other major attractions like the Grand Canyon and the Dead Sea didn’t make the cut.

This is welcome news as this would definitely increase tourism not only in Palawan, but in the Philippines as a whole. This early, Puerto Princesa is starting to prepare for the influx of tourists that would be generated by our inclusion in the list. This may probably be the best time to visit Palawan, and if you’re still contemplating on taking that trip, here are some reasons to take that vacation as soon as possible.
